The photo is taken by renowned Finnish photographer Joonas Brandt:
“I've had the pleasure of working with Ville for over 15 years.
The original portrait was created at Ville’s home in January 2022, where we also set up the studio. Actually the studio set up was in the same space where Ville was still working with his new Neon Noir -album recording. At that point he had some ideas for the album’s illustration, but everything was still on the table.
Usually, when Ville asks me to collaborate, he already has lots of ideas – I believe that it's an inspiring starting point for our creative process.
About the photo
He had an idea of a black & white photo, shot on film, where he wears a birdcage veil. He desired to have a portrait that had a raw, handmade feel to it, but was also looking forward to seeing some sensitivity. I came up with an idea of using light painting technique. In that way I could draw letters V into Ville's eyes, and that would be the only lighting used in this portrait: it took 4 seconds exposure time to be able to draw the V’s.
It would have been easier to use just light tubes, but it wouldn't have been the same, as we both wished for a hand made -feel. We have been working together many years in many projects, so I feel that we have an intuitive connection between us. When I had taken the image, I already had a sense that we were onto something really special and maybe that’s why this portrait ended up to be the cover of VV’s album Neon Noir.
Original photograph is shot on B&W film with Mamiya RZ67, a workhorse that I’ve used for over 20 years. Actually Ville Valo & Agents - Album Cover was shot with this same camera.”

Photos are printed on museum quality art paper from Hahnemühle.
The paper used in these is Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta 315 g/m², highest quality cotton paper, and they are printed by Dialab.
Dialab is a family owned professional printing lab, established in 1984. They are known for their high quality and reliability.
The company is Hahnemühle certified studio, specialising in fine art and photographic printing and archival mounting.
All of their products are handmade in Helsinki, Finland.
SHIPPING
We ship worldwide with UPS service, in Finland you can choose Matkahuolto or Schenker home delivery.
You can also pick up your prints from the production in Helsinki to avoid shipping cost. All prints are delivered in protective tube.
PAYMENTS
Payments are handled with Stripe, accepting all major debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express…).
The shipping cost is added at check out based on your delivery order, VAT is inclusive in the sales price where applicable.
RETURN POLICY
The prints are handcrafted by order and cannot be returned after purchase.
In case of damage or mistake in production, contact us immediately and we will replace or fix the product accordingly.
